Former Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president Vince Dizon denied Thursday (November 18) the claim of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s campaign manager that he’s part of the presidential aspirant’s team for the 2022 elections.
“I confirm the statement of Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles that I am not involved in any political campaign,” Dizon said in a statement.
“My focus is on the national government’s overall COVID-19 response and recovery, including the country’s vaccination program,” he added.
Dizon is the administration’s COVID-19 testing czar and deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force Against COVID-19.
Moreno’s campaign manager, Lito Banayo, said earlier this week that Dizon has joined his team and will likely be a “second lead” soon.
Responding to Dizon’s statement, Banayo said they respect the former BCDA chief’s commitment to his government job.
Banayo, however, said Dizon will still join Moreno’s campaign team “eventually.”
