Baltimore’s shocking QB move amid Tyler Huntley illness

The Baltimore Ravens plan to start Tyler Huntley at QB in their Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals despite the 23-year-old recently falling ill.

Huntley missed Friday’s practice because of a non-COVID-19 illness, raising fears about his availability on Sunday since Lamar Jackson remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

Baltimore can’t afford to lose their best option at QB at the moment with Jackson out, especially in a pivotal Week 16 match that could decide the standings in the AFC North. Both the Ravens and Bengals are at 8-6, so whoever wins the contest takes the top spot in the division.

With that said, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported that Huntley is still expected to start for the Ravens despite his illness and missing practice. There were no details regarding his condition or if he’ll be able to join the team on Saturday, but he has been listed as questionable alongside Jackson.

Meanwhile, Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network corroborated the report and noted that Jackson is unlikely to play despite his questionable label.

Tyler Huntley suit up for the Ravens in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers, filling in nicely despite the loss. He threw for two touchdowns on 28-of-40 pass completion, keeping Baltimore in the fight before succumbing to a 31-30 defeat to Aaron Rodgers and Co.

Hopefully, Huntley’s illness is not that serious and he will be in full health come Sunday where they’ll try to take full control of their destiny.
