Kevin Durant NSFW recruitment pitch to get Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin was a huge addition for the Brooklyn Nets last season, and has once again signed on for another run at the title.

The six-time All-Star recently revealed how he ended up in Brooklyn, which was thanks in large part to a certain Kevin Durant. Griffin admitted that KD didn’t exactly pull out all the stops to convince him. The Nets superstar was much more direct to the point.

Via Graham Bensinger:

“Somebody asked me, ‘Who recruited me the hardest?’ I was just like ‘Kevin’. It wasn’t like he was flying to my house. It wasn’t that type of recruitment.”

“It was just like, ‘Hey, come bring your a– to Brooklyn. Let’s try to make a run at this thing.’ When a player of his caliber says something like that, it means something for sure.”

When you’re a player of Kevin Durant’s stature, it probably doesn’t take much to convince others to want to play with you. The situation would’ve been more complicated had Griffin been a disgruntled star forcing his way onto the Nets.

But instead he was a buyout player who had free rein to decide on the team of his choosing. Electing to join a star-studded roster with a clear need for frontcourt talent was virtually a no-brainer.

Despite all the drama with Kyrie Irving, the Nets still have championship aspirations all the same. Blake Griffin and the rest of Kevin Durant’s supporting cast must step up if they’ll indeed lose their third star for the entire season.
