Defeated Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas is apparently not yet fully retired from the world of politics.
Roxas, former senator and Interior minister, appeared to be active in political affairs particularly in support of the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.
He has deployed some staff members to help with Robredo’s presidential campaign as well as continues to advise the Liberal Party, according to former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr.
“He retired from politics but he will still support Ma’am Leni,” Baguilat said during an interview on One News’ The Chiefs.
“He still provides us guidance. Some of his staff or those involved in the previous campaign are also helping Leni Robredo,” he said.
Baguilat, LP vice president, is part of the senatorial slate of Robredo in the 2022 elections. The veep chose to be an independent candidate for president than run under the LP ticket to show inclusivity and openness to alliances with other political groups.
Roxas earlier said he has retired from politics and remains focused on his family. He and wife Korina Sanchez have their hands full on raising their adorable young twins Pepe and Pilar.
Roxas ran for president in the 2016 elections but lost to then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Since his heartbreaking loss, he mostly stayed away from the media spotlight and lived a quiet family life.
