Bam Adebayo blasts 2021-22 GM survey with NSFW comment

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo banked on his work ethic to get where he is right now. He spent countless hours in the gym to improve his game, leading to an NBA Finals appearance, an All-Star nod, and an Olympic gold medal under his belt thus far.

That is why when Adebayo was left out from almost every category in NBA.com’s annual GM Survey, the Heat big man did not mince his words in telling everyone how he didn’t give a damn.

Via Brendan Tobin of Tobin & Leroy:

“Man, I don’t pay attention to that s***. The dudes in the NBA know who I am and what I’m capable of.”

Bam Adebayo wasn’t included in the top five when the front office executives were asked about the NBA’s most versatile defender. Giannis Antetokounmpo was given the distinction as Ben Simmons, LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Kawhi Leonard rounded out the top five.

Ironically, the 6-foot-9 big man finished last season’s Defensive Player of the Year race at the fourth spot, behind Green, Simmons, and eventual winner Rudy Gobert.

For what it’s worth, Adebayo is indeed one of the most capable stoppers in the league. He’s able to cover guards and fellow big men, thanks to his combination of strength, agility, and basketball IQ.

Him and Jimmy Butler anchor the Heat’s defense. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t stay the same in the 2021-22 season, no matter how the league’s general managers view Adebayo’s ability on that end.
